I Love King Nebuchadnezzar

Daniel 4:34-37 – “At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever…”

God took away King Nebuchadnezzar’s power over Babylon and Nebuchadnezzar had to eat grass like the cattle, and “His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird” (Verse 33).   As you can see, Nebuchadnezzar lost everything. And not only did he loose all of his power, but he suffered strong punishment from God. He was very tired, dried out, depressed, and hurt. But even though Nebuchadnezzar felt this way, he praised God. He worshiped the God who punished Him and who took everything away from him. It’s very weird for me to think that someone who had power over a huge city praised God who took it all away from him. I feel that we many times feel like Nebuchadnezzar. We’re depressed, hurt, confused, and we feel like we’ve lost everything. When we feel this way, it’s still very important to give praise to God. A lot of us tend to only worship when we’re having a good day. But this shouldn’t be. When we praise God in the midst of our problems, God clears those problems away like he did with King Nebuchadnezzar. We must worship God in the midst of all our troubles and confusion because He will restore our sanity.
